What a Shambles! O2 Crashes and Burns

O2 servers go down the toilet!
I had just clicked the Place Order button at around 8.45am when O2’s servers went down. Infuriating!
Two hours later they come back up and I tried again. It kept failing to take the payment from my card. It took me two Visas and three Credit Cards repeatedly failing until I eventually got my order to go through. What a shambles. Come on O2, surely you must have been expecting and dare I say, preparing for a rush like this?
I’m actually moving from Orange to O2, and I’ve never had any problems with Orange so I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come with O2, and that it’s just an unprecedented demand for the iPhone2.0.
It makes me wonder how many they actually had in stock.
So who actually managed to get an order through?

The iPhone2.0 has sold out at O2.

I've been predicting a fiasco in the O2 Stores on Friday for a while, but never thought the on-line experience would be as bad as my fevered imaginings for the 'in-store' experience (here's a link to my comment on the International Mac Podcast site: http://tiny.cc/odjih)
I was going to try to get my PAC code sorted for Friday so I could go in and move across to O2 - but to be honest, following the on-line launch on Twitter and reading peoples experiences (especially Ryan's & Paul Boag's), I think I'll be holding out for a while after the launch - just in case.
Also quite fancied a White iPhone, but didn't see those offered as an on-line option? hmmm, maybe they will be 'stores only' ? will have to wait & see.
(congrats on the arrival of the little one too Ryan! not sure when it was, but enjoy it - they grow up waaaay too fast! :0D )

@Rob The white iPhone only available with the 16GB version. And even still i'm not sure if O2 are making available.
Oh and my little one hasn't arrived, Paul jumped the gun. Mine arrives November. :-)

I woke up at 11am, staggered downstairs and saw the pre-order e-mail. Staggered back upstairs, got my wallet and ordered one :)
My friend ordered one at 9am and the pre-crash orders only got put through at dinnertime by which time they'd run out, so I get one and he doesn't (yet). Bearing in mind it said 'first come first served' he's a bit pissed off!
